1960
Walter Metzger, a renowned Elmira-based entrepreneur who founded the largest egg grading station in Ontario - Metzger Produce, started Riverdale Poultry off the side of his desk / corner of his yard to help processors move live chickens and turkeys from farms to processing plants.
2006
One of Riverdale’s largest customers, Butterball Canada (then owned by P&H Foods), acquired Riverdale Poultry from Walter Metzger.
2013
A group of investors led by Eric Silber and Prasanna (“PR”) Ranganathan acquired Riverdale Poultry from P&H Foods and set Riverdale on a new course of operational excellence.
2015
Eric and PR had so much fun with Riverdale that they decided to make it their sole focus and acquired the Company from the other investors.
2016
Riverdale added the company’s first new customer in over
20 years.
2017
Riverdale Poultry expands its service offering to include Catching services in addition to the Live Haul services it has always provided.
2018
A transformational year for Riverdale:
Acquired GMF Transport Ltd, a large live haul company headquartered in Brampton ON, securing Riverdale’s position as the largest live haul provider in the country.
Acquired Hawk Express, a small catching company headquartered in Brantford ON, making Riverdale the third largest catching company in the province.
2019
Riverdale opened a new office space in Kitchener ON for shared services and support functions.
2021

Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) – to safely move 6 billion KGs of food in one year.
